Hello SEMHS.  It’s good to be with you.  Let’s get started without further ado:

Period 1

Rhetoric:
persuasion/persuasvie writing or speech
3 modes of persuasion:
This week 1)logos-reason
2)pathos-emotion
3)ethos-character(can you believe the person speaking?)

Period 3

Today in class, we began our lesson on syntax and discussed an excerpt from the book, “Sweetness and Light,” by Matthew Arnold. Next, we talked about the higher order thinking pyramid on the wall and how we all love to worship our glowing rectangle thing. Then we went over on Monday’s essay for a bit, and Mr. Eldridge went off topic after that, but according to him, it’s not really off topic because you learn something from it. Mr. Eldridge talked about Einstein and the rule of velocity. He also talked about launching babies at the speed of light. And apparently Besocke’s watching over us… (The freaky shadow on the wall.) After that, we copied notes from the board on rhetoric and looked over the packet on syllogism. We ended class by reading and discussing syntax on another excerpt from “The Black Cat” by Edgar Allen Poe.
