Well I found out today (Tuesday) that I was scribe yesterday (Monday) because the scribes for the week hadn’t been posted yet, so here are my admittedly haphazard and probably incomplete notes from the day.
Most of the day was spent in the computer lab doing some research. Mr. Eldridge assigned each of the groups two philosophers or philosophical theories for the groups to divide up amongst themselves to research and create a neat fact sheet for each. Our group had Thomas Hobbes (pictured below), but unfortunately I didn’t catch who/what the other groups had (like I said, haphazard notes). We were supposed to do research on our person/idea, coming mostly from the links Eldridge had on the Grendel page of his website. Then, we had to type out a brief but informative one-page summary on the main philosophy of the person/idea. Bullet points or short paragraphs were acceptable, but you could NOT merely provide biographical information about the person!!! Mr. E stressed that frequently. I believe we will be presenting our fact-sheets to the class as part of a precursor to our reading of Grendel.
Well that’s pretty much it from the day; feel free to comment if I missed anything to fill in the blanks.

Period 4
Hey everyone. So Monday was a pretty interesting day. Its also probably forgotten by now, but whatever. So the day started with Adam throwing his paper missiles at everyone. They were pretty sweet. Then Mr. E got us all to sit down in a strange seating and proceeded to get us to focus on the board. It showed each group name followed by one or two philosophers, and if you were lucky enough nothing was written. We were then instructed to go to the mac lab and write up a sort of study paper on the philosophers. It turned out to be pretty easy with Eldridge’s website links, but without question the strangest philosophy was nothing. Nothing is mind blowing so we shall not discuss that quite yet. The philosophy things is probably going to get us ready for Grendel. Thats pretty much all. See you guys tomorrow.
