Period 4

Well, not much to report on today. We wrote an essay in class in which we analyzed the rhetorical devices of a man named Downes. He was trying to convince his wife to emigrate from England to the U.S. It wasn’t too bad of a prompt. Ummm, Jordan had the strange desire to talk and fidget—Colleen finally got fed up with it and kicked him….that’s about it. I wish there was more to write about, but we started and finished at the bells, so there wasn’t much talk or discussion to report of. Hope everyone has a delightful weekend—I’m going to go rough it in the wild. Yep, that’s right. I will be backpacking to some obscure location late tonight and then I’ll sleep under the stars. Whenever I think of sleeping under the stars, I think of the aurora borealis. Did you know it makes sounds? I know! Crazy! People who have heard it believe it sounds like a static or whooshing noise. Of course there hasn’t actually been a successful recording of it, so there isn’t a reliable source of proof besides hearsay (EPISTOMOLOGY!)…but even if there isn’t really a sound, they still look cool. Don’t forget—your chosen research report topic is due on Monday.

Peace dudes.

Period 5

HI period 5.

Today I came in late for the beginning of class to see we had an in-class essay about the rhetorical

strategies that Mr. Downe used to convince hiswife to come to America.  I thought he used ethos and

pathos and a variety of syntactical devices.  Have a fun weekend.
