• Imagery worksheet
o 20th century poet Elizabeth Bishop
o Bishop describes hot air balloons…NOT fireworks
o The sentence bridge across the stanza break is done to symbolize the mountains
o The poem is about love/emotion/relation/human experiences, all because of the two words at the end of the poem “like hearts”

yayyyyyyy!!…Elizabeth Bishop. Pretty woman…not? jk she is maybe her outer appearance is reflecting her soul within.

• Jordan was really weird and funny as usual
o He said “pop the pills sucka!” that will be a new favorite quote of mine

• Finished up Sir Thomas Browne
o Browne uses lots of metaphors because you cant see spiritual things, so by using metaphors he is able to put the spiritual things into words
o From section 10 and 11: the point of these sections is that there is no such thing as deformity because God made outward appearances to reflect our insides
o Section 12: the chaos Browne talks about is the chaos before the 1st night; there is no set order in this chaos
o Tricia says hi 
o Section 13: conclusion; “art is the perfection of nature” therefore nature is the perfection of God

THAT’S ALL WE DID JANUARY 21st !!

Period 5

Today for our daily exercise we did Imagery 15 and the apply was about crazy things you’ve seen. Mr. Eldridge talked about how worthless west Texas was and how he did not understand why anyone would fight for that. Then he described a beautiful mural he saw there in which the main theme was “Jesus Is Mexican”. Somehow, though I’m not quite sure exactly how, we got on the subject of Ewoks, and, as with everything else, Mr. Eldridge knew the complete history and talked about how they were supposed to be Wookies but then they decided to cut them in half and put the name backwards. Ryan Cady jumped in about the Star Wars holiday special. Random Wookie noises began to issue from Werd in the corner. We finished going over Religio Medici and Mr. E. explained the Gulf Stream.

yee,

Chris Rini

  1. jordan’s answer for everything now is “pop a pill”
    got a problem?
    take these meds…
    what about stress issues?
they have pills for that too
(i’m pretty sure george carlin has a great routine on this)

    anyways,
how much longer are we going to trust the pharmaceutical industry to solve all our problem?
perhaps it’s fear that makes us think we have these problems that can only be solved by medication.
isn’t there more than one way to solve a problem?

  2. Yeah, Steven, we probably all want to take pills for stress and relieving our problems because it is the easy way out and we, as humans, are innately lazy. At least I think so. Or maybe we just all want to be like House and take like five pills every three minutes and then hobble down the halls of a hospital with a cane and solve a crazy medical mystery. That would be my initiative to take pills at least.

  3. yes, but some things require pills
bipolar disorder without pills = madness sometimes
people are so unbalanced they feel like killing themselves one day and have the best time of their life the next day

  4. You guys know that the pharmaceutical industry makes pills just to get you “healthy” enough, but just enough to keep you sick. Otherwise they would be out of business. I personally HATE the pharmaceutical companies. Hello that’s why we don’t tech. have a cure for diabetes, cancer….
Pharmaceuticals suck (I really hate them)
