Period 4
We started off the period with a Self Reliance quiz. It was fairly easy i would like to point out. Next we discussed the schedule for tomorrow: Culture. CLARIFICATION: “culture” is not a synonym for “party.”
Next we filled out the Tone worksheet. The “Consider” section was a sarcastic poem which described people of exceptional wealth. We came to the conclusion that the poem payed false glory to the rich. For the “Apply” section we wrote of cliques at our school. Most of the descriptions I could not identify the group. Idk if that was just me though. Ed Guo is never to answer another question. I dunno how it came up. Mr. Brent Eldridge was on a reality show with his wife (at the time his girlfriend). It was aired on TLC, episode 2 of Property Ladder (i think). Next we compared the amount of time each watches TV. Sean recited some literature for extra credit. He did this in a very rushed manner. Tristan presented his trope du jour: Climax. He declared that Big is better than Small, of course. Also he seemed confused about where exactly to face while presenting. Adam presented Cacophany, the use of harsh sounding words to emphasize tone. He said some stuff which he described as random, which scared Brent. uh oh. Euphony is the opposite of Cacophany and the most euphonious (?) phrase in English is cellar door. I personally think that the “s” sound in general is more cacophanous than relaxing but whateverrr. Ed commanded Sean to yell and he did. The control he has over Sean is amazing. So Sean yelled, or more it was a yell-laugh-moan combo. I dunno.. Then he was called on to read an example poem. He accented and harshened the words beautifully. It was “triple ugly” (according to Brent). Twas Brillig! For some reason that line of poetry was repeated time and time again.
Then I had to leave and i missed like the last ten minutes of class so you can invent whatever you wish to have happened in that time.
