Daily Scribe Tuesday 9/30/2008 – Period 5

“Pour it all in! Pour it all in!” Mr. Eldridge yelled at Gellen while she ate her candy at the beginning of class. A new responsibility list was introduced to us which contains a specific job for each group to maintain for the week. We then went over the journal to essay which is due on Friday. Alex Carfi said that he was planning on writing his essay on “The Chase.” Eldridge went on to say that the essay for this story should be written as a narrative similar to how To Kill A Mockingbird is written and that the best writing comes from those who are open. Next Kirsten did her trope of the day which was on litotes followed by Sarah whose topic was metaphors. Suddenly, Mr. Eldridge seemed baffled by the saying “more unique.” How can you be more one of a kind? We went on to speak about the corruption of words such as awesome, which was once used to describe God. Finally, we ended with a discussion about syntax. “Repetition is an important form of syntax.”
