- Extra-Credit of the Week #5
- The name of what major US city is an anagram of ILL – SHAVEN.
- The class started out as usual with a worksheet. Syntax.
- Yahtzee started to talk about French people saying “sheet of paper.” It’s kinda obvious what that comes out like.
- As we worked on the Syntax worksheet, some volunteers/victims passed back our previous worksheets.
- *Nikki Doug is out of it*
- Pretty soon the class is in an uprawr.
- Mr. E does the clap your hands thing to get our attention. Wow we are simple minded.
- Off tangent – as usual – about Nicaraguans who drink themselves to death and fall in ditches and suffocate
- Blah blah about some syntax stuff and how it’s Mr. E’s favorite.
- Off tangent again because someone brings up Zach Glasser NRRRRRRRRR.
- Apparently everyone is sick and demented because we didn’t go and help the dying children at Coldstones.
- Finally back to discussion of Syntax about how short sentences are sudden and abrupt and help convey the information with more emphasis. Long sentences are “boring” and wait … off tangent again. Supposedly “boring” is too broad of a topic and many things are wrongly classified under this heading. We get an excerpt out of a book that has very long, detailed and action packed sentences.
- Near the end, we talked about how the children of today cannot think for themselves and require predetermined questions to function correctly. With this said, a particularly tough college to go to would be Saint John’s? in New Mexico where the curriculum is centered around self thought and the ability to reason, question, etc.
- About 5 minutes left so we went over the concrete specific worksheet which turned out to be immensely difficult for the majority of the class.
Homework: Read Ascher’s On Compassion
journal write

QOM 2, 3
QOW 1, 2

There were many other happenings today but alas, I am a poor note-taker as most of you probably know, so I just got the most important stuff.
Exit line of the day: Makin’ like a prom dress, I’m takin’ off.

Hey Everyone,
Okay I must have not been paying attention because i don’t know what “sheet of paper” is suppose to mean. Anyone want to tell me? And in regards to the long sentences= boring, I think the only reason we think long sentences are boring is because we are too lazy to read them thoroughly. We (students of this generation) like the use of periods because they give us a break, or pause to take in everything that was read. I know I am lazy and sometimes prefer short sentences, but sometimes they are just more complicated because there is not much to analyze. Sorry if i don’t make any sense. Its not my fault i’m sick
Oh, Mr. E i finally went to the doctor to figure out why i have been miserable for 2 weeks! yay! now hopefully i’ll get better
And Ed, what is “makin’ like a prom dress, I’m takin’ off.” suppose to mean?
Have a good day!
