These are the events that occurred as thus aptly stated in the title.

Since I was probably around 5 minutes late, I missed whatever happened in the beginning of the period.

On the board was written a quote stated by Jonathon Swift, which read “Satire is a kind of glass, where in beholders discover everyone’s face but their own.” We had to do a free response just as we’ve been doing every single day.

After doing our responses to that, we analyzed and discussed Jonathon Swift’s hilarious and morbid A Modest Proposal: For Preventing The Children of Poor People in Ireland From Being A Burden To Their Parents or Country, and For Making Them Beneficial to The Public. (the title alone should make you want to read this hilarious “proposal”)

We discussed the ethos of the passage which were: humble, servant to his country, preserver of the nation, caring, economical (practical), agreeable, prideful.

Basically, the argument of the passage was to “make children useful by using them for food”…… nice…..

An excerpt our class was particularly fond of was; “I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricassee or a ragout” (9). Totally logical, right? ha ha ha that crazy Jonathon Swift.

Well, that is pretty much it for today.

OH! we have late start tomorrow, which means class starts at 9 in the morn’. Yet, AP test takers need to meet in the gym at 7:45, which basically means we all still have to get up early.
