* AP Test regristration this morning…if you didn’t go then I don’t know what to tell you.
* Late start today (unless you had AP Regristration =[
* Why do fish have scales? (asked by Kayla)
     – Mr. E. said it was like their hair, and I added, ” Did they evolve from hairy mammoth fish?” ( my comment recieved some laughs =D
     – Sales are the fishes “skin” though Kayla believes fish don’t have haor rather than scales because they are meant to be the fastest in the water.
     – But Mr. E. challenged this by saying ” If fish were meant to be the fastest in the sea, they wouldn’y have gills and their bodys one sleak swimming machine.
     – Conversation over…
* The we discussed the quote on the board, ” Liberty exists in proportion to wholesome restraint”. – Daniel Webster
     – Mr. E called out ” Tony” and Anthony answered. Therefore he is now called “tony”- ha loser.
     - Mr E explained that if you can’t restrain yourself from base desires, then your a slave to them.
     – He also asked the question. ” If you have no restraints, are you free?
     * my answer to this is no because as a person YOU put certain restraints on yourself. So being completly free is not possible…what do you think?
     – Mr. E also set up a very good, yet disturbing example about “freedom”. Basically, he said it doesn’t exist because if there were total freedom. the people wouldn’t get in trouble for killing other people. “I’m free, I don’t like you, so I can be free to kill you”. He also said ” Why can’t I rape?”
     – Of course this is an example but it really made it clear, Julian said it was “wrong” but Mr. E keept going by saying ” It’s freedom; wrong, but I don’t care.”
     – This example that Mr. E set up made it clear that without restraints there is fear and chaos.
     – Ultimately, are you free if you free yourself from all restraints?
* After the discussion, we talked about the DBQ’s.
     – It is absolutly crucial to be very clear in the begining of your essay.
     – A good start on your essay makes the grader realize that you have a good top-half essay and then looks for enforcement by anaylisis.
     – If it starts weak, the reader knows it is a bottom-half essay and will look for anaylisis.
     – So it is EXTREMLY important to have good anaylisis to enforce your ideas in your essay!
     – Enforce your essay, DON’T SUMMARIZE…it’s bad and boring!
* The bell rings…”bastards” says Mr. E
* Our homework was a worksheet on syntax anaylisis!!
