So at the start of the morning, the class was empty with an exception of about 8 people.

Mr. Eldridge sent me on an errand to get papers from the copy machine and when i returned to class everyone seemed to have magically appeared.

As for the educational part of class, we discussed “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God”

Also, we learned that whoever pokes Andre when he falls asleep gets extra credit. (i wish i sat next to Andre now because i desperately need that extra credit)

Mr. Eldridge also gave us a journal checklist that we were all very thankful for.

Eldridge told John that he was going to Hell to prove a point (it was a joke that had to do with the reading)

As for the random knowledge we acquired that day:

-More people die of drowning in their bathtub than from a terrorist attack each year

-More people are likely to get in an accident on the street rather than on the freeway

  1. I was blown away by the whole Sinners Angry God thing by John Edwards. I read it again the other day and it had a huge effect- I wasn’t all scared into converting or anything, but while reading it I can just imagine a sweaty, red-in-the-face minister reading this sermon, his voice echoing through the room. I find it extremely remarkable that I can sense the power in it just through reading it, especially as a person living 200 years later in this fairly rational world of ours. It’s obvious how he started the Second Great Awakening- he scared the crap out of everyone! But he did it in such a way that the people wanted to follow him rather than ignore him. Amazing, purely remarkable.
