Daily Scribe Notes for Friday, 1/18/08 (Period 0)

-All late work is due today!
-During class we discussed about “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” by Jonathan Edward.
-Quote: 1)”The bow of God’s wrath is bent, and the arrow made ready on the string, and
justice bends the arrow at your heart, and strains the bow, and its nothing but the
mere pleasure of God, and that of an angry God, without any promise or obligation
at all, that keeps the arrow one moment from being made drunk with blood.”
-This quote is talking directly to the individual and it announces that justice will
come.
2)”…Peace and safety: now they see, that those things on which they depended for
peace and safety, were nothing but thin air and empty shadows.”
-It means that anything can happen in life, the unexpected, that can take away
peace and safety. For Example: September 11.
3)”O sinner! Consider the fearful danger you are in: it is a great furnace of wrath, a
wide and bottomless pit, full of the fire of wrath, that your held over in the hand
of that God, whose wrath is provoked and incensed as much against you, as
against many of the damned in hell.”
-Jonathan Edwards was able to convert many people by giving his famous
speeches and giving them a hope or chance that they might change and to give
up their their treasure (money) but instead beg mercy to God.
-Note: No school on Monday (Martin Luther King Junior Day)!!!!
