the freakin’ SCRIBE Tuesday, 10/30/2007 (period 3)

We were given Imagery 6 at the beginning of the period, which was on imagery (DUH). As usual, groups began working on their worksheets, and Mr.E made his way around the room, conversing casually. Numerous essays and past worksheets were passed back as we worked diligently on the Image sheet. We discussed the imagery from about 10:00-10:25. Twas a fun Imagery sheet. **A GOURD, for those of you who couldn’t seem to grasp the idea earlier, is a hard-shelled fruits (or legume) of any various plants, whose dried shell is used for bowls, vessels or for ornamental purposes.** Furthermore, I want to go on this so-called VISIONQUEST, which is a spiritual retreat used in Native American cultures, where one becomes one with nature and furthers his/her life direction. We learned that images in writing help engage your senses. In writing you can have auditory, visual, olfactory and many other types of imagery…no Aaron, not emotional imagery. There ain’t no such thang.

In further discussion, we talked about different terms. ABSTRACT TERMS are intangable, where CONCRETE TERMS affect your senses. Then there are SPECIFIC TERMS which are very detailed and individual details. GENERAL TERMS are grouped and described as one thing made of many things. It was while discussing these terms that we brought out our TERMS worksheet in relationship to the Imagery we did.

Uh, today Tara was offended by my comment that her couch was “tight”. She must have heard me say something along the lines like “Tara’s couch efing blows and I really hate it. It’s ugly”, because she told me to shut up. Misunderstanding.

Have a GREAT rest of the week everyone :)
