I never really gave much appreciation to the idea of “god”. Why? Maybe out of fear, maybe out of unwillingness to believe in something that cannot yet be proven in my lifetime. Does it mean that i am restricting myself only to science? Or perhaps just want to be ignorant? Sure, why not. It has been said for centuries that man does not like what he cannot control. Maybe that explains the fear part; but i’d rather say its more along the idea of one specie directly having control over another at any time. As people say, “Oh my god, thank god, i prayed to god, god will show us the right path” and such… All of which is about the humans of this planet, well, so far at least the humans, trying to show that we are controlled by a something defined as a higher power.
Humans, dogs, cats, birds, all of which are general names given to different species. In my view, if there existed “god”, it would be considered another specie. Just because i refer to “god” as a possible specie, doesn’t mean it has to be of flesh and blood, perhaps energy. A specie is really just a class of individuals having some common traits. The point is, say in the condition that the great and powerful specie of “god” existed and was governing all known life, first of, that much mean that “god” whether one or many is endless as it has to watch over every inch of the universe, second, is it right for one specie of an entirely different realm to control or influence another, or rather let it develop on its own? This belongs somewhere in the lines above, but i suppose this could be argued for by using the belief to which i forgot the name but refers to every idea, thought or emotion being real and exists in one universe or another.
Anyhow, by that definition, i can say that “God” possibly exists without exactly soundly religious. Anyone who says that there probably exists life on other planets, but no “God” is a hypocrite, because neither can yet be proven, but, if there exists a “God” then there must exist life on other planets, because this “God” does not inhabit the Earth.

Vijay, to what are you referring? “If it’s God’s time, who cares!”? That refers to a brief tangent about clocks and hours, and how they were originally used to divide the day into the canonical hours–the seven times of prayer. We didn’t discuss any qualities of God. And we will only briefly touch on these topics, since this is not a philosophy of religion course.
Before you go on any further about God and its attributes, I would recommend you look into A HISTORY OF GOD by Karen Armstrong. It is short. It is well done. And she limits herself to only the three Western religions, so it is not too difficult.
